Kahan Gallery is pleased to present a selection of prints and drawings by 20th century artists to the IFPDA Print Fair.

In etching, lithography, and drawing, these artists created compositions that rose from the graphic surface with volume and atmosphere that could only have emerged following visual advancements in art and science in the first half of the 20th century. Fascinated by personal motifs and the literal concept of a measurable yet unknowable space, the works on paper capture the fluorescent, fluid sense of perspective that permeated the post-war artistic landscape across the globe. From observations of the visual art made on the edges of early 20th century society, termed Art Brut by Jean Dubuffet, to the lyrical prints of leading avant-garde designer Sonia Delaunay, the perspective of these artists opened horizons that have become long sought after by collectors, new and seasoned alike.

Artworks on view will include the 1934 etching Marie-Thérèse en Femme Torrero II from the Vollard Suite by Pablo Picasso; unique monotypes by Sam Francis completed in 1983-1984; and prints by Alexander Calder from rarely exhibited and little-studied narratives such as La Memoire Élémentaire by Patrick Waldberg published in 1973.
